It all began on a quiet Friday evening when Mum left for her trip. I could be totally off base on that as it was one of the rare things we never discussed. It was a normal part of life—Mum’s job took her out of town often, and Dad was always the one holding down the fort.
From my earliest memories of my Dad around age 5, I think I always knew my dad was gay. And anything not directly tied to the business was secondary. By my earliest recollections, he would come to see me a few days out of the year.
